How To Set Password For Your WhatsApp Account

If you’re concerned about prying eyes, an extra level of security can now be added to your whatsapp account.

You can now easily protect your Whatsapp messages with a password. WhatsApp messages are already end-to-end encrypted, it means only those people in conversations can view the content.

But, this security feature becomes redundant in case someone manages to unlock your phone, and they can be able to read your WhatsApp messages with ease.

But in the latest update, an extra level of security has been added to your private conversations. The popular instant messaging app is used regularly by around 1.5 billion people all over the world, and in the past required a third party app to authenticate identity in order to open Whatsapp.

The latest upgrade includes a new feature which allows users to add either a pin, fingerprint or face ID required to unlock the app.

This feature is available on both iOS and Android devices; the new feature needs to be activated in the app’s settings before being able to keep the app from prying eyes.

To activate the new feature, you just need to know where to look.

First of all, download the latest version of Whatsapp via the App Store or Google Play. Install it on your device. Follow the steps below in case if you don’t have a fingerprint sensor available on your phone:

  •         Download the latest version (2.19.21) of the app.
  •         Go to settings (the symbol with the cog).
  •         Tap ‘account’.
  •         Select ‘Two step verification’.
  •         Click on enable and enter the 6 digit pin number.
  •         Again you will be asked to re-enter the 6 digit PIN number.
  •         You are now password protected.

If you have forgotten your PIN number, you can easily remove it by following the steps below:

  •         Open your Whatsapp account
  •         Click on ‘Forgot PIN’
  •         Remove PIN
  •         You account has now doesn’t have the PIN lock

In case if you have a fingerprint sensor available on your phone, then follow these steps:

  •         Go to settings (the symbol with the cog).
  •         Tap ‘account’.
  •         Click on ‘Privacy’.
  •         At the bottom you can find ‘Fingerprint lock’.
  •         Select it and click ‘Enable’
  •         You are now password protected.

But, now you also have a new option which has been added to the account area – it’s under “Screen Lock”. Based on your device, you can choose your type of password protection for your Whatsapp account.
